2014 Young Woman of the Year

Laura Couture was recognized partly for her academic achievement. She has continuously held a 95% average while enrolled in university-level math and science courses. She plans on attending McGill University in the fall in pursuit of a bachelor of science as a four-year step to her goal to become a doctor. Laura has also logged more than 500 hours at the Horseplay Sanctuary, a charity that rescues abused or abandoned horses and provides therapeutic riding programs for special-needs children and abused women and children.

The Young Woman of the year receives a $500 scholarship from the OBWA as well as awards Mayor Angelo Orsi, Simcoe North MP Bruce Stanton and Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop.
