September 13th – OBWA Networking Meeting 2017

The Orillia Business Women’s Association (OBWA) meets every second Wednesday of the Month (September thru June) at the Best Western Mariposa INN and Conference Centre at 400 Memorial Ave. Orillia for Networking, Fun, Food and to hear a wonderful Guest Speaker.

OBWA PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

It is hard to believe it is already September! A lot of us are back to a more rigid routine with many commitments. It’s time to get back to business. The OBWA executive met several times over the summer months and we have some exciting new ideas that we will be sharing very soon. I had a lot of women contact me these past few months inquiring about the OBWA and I am happy to announce that we have some new members. Growth in our group continues and it is very exciting. At the dinner meeting in September, I encourage you, if you can, to take full advantage of the 45 minutes of “networking” at the beginning of the evening. This is when great business connections can be made. Also, don’t forget that we have tables set up so you can display products, catalogues, business cards, etc. I look forward to seeing all your familiar faces and meeting our new members and, of course, having a fun evening with a delicious dinner. Register for the dinner/meeting soon and I will see you September 13th.

Yours in friendship and business,
 Shelle Hossack

Gill Tllmann Orillia winter Olympics RGill Tillmann for many years has demonstrated exceptional community leadership, improving the lives of others by her investment of time and energy.  She has worked with others finding solutions that result in improved health and well being of our community.  What makes Gill special is her passion, whether it is work, social or volunteering, she commits herself 100%.

Gill has had a continuously successful career. She has been a secondary school teacher; a development coordinator (Couchiching Jubilee House); an entrepreneur and a life coach.  Gill, as a secondary school teacher, recognized the need to help students who struggle with our secondary school system and was instrumental in the creation of the Orillia Alternative School.  In this, she helped struggling students have a voice.  Gill joined the staff of Jubilee House in August 2007 as the organization’s first Development Coordinator.  This was a challenging position as there had been no predecessor.  Gill defined the job with her tireless energy, raising the public profile of the organization, organizing major fundraising events, managing the company database and submitting grants to increase the funding base.   One of the events that Gill started prior to working at Jubilee House was Diva Day, a fun pampering event for women.  This event raises about $10,000 a year and has been successful for over 10 years.
